WESTMARC Committees
As a member of WESTMARC you are entitled to participate in WESTMARC's committees. The following are standing committees. Occasionally, other committees and taskforces are formed as issues arise. The purpose of WESTMARC's committees is for members to gain information, discuss specific issues, and make policy recommendations for WESTMARC's consideration.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Meets at WESTMARC Bi-Monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Co-Chairs: Harry Paxton, City of Goodyear; (to be announced)
The Economic Development Committee will focus on regional programs and strategies to enhance the West Valley's economic development capabilities. The committee will also work to inform members about tools (like the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone) and West Valley economic drivers and assets.
EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Meets at WESTMARC Bi-Monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Co-Chairs:Herman Orcutt (Retired), The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership; Robin Berry, Palo Verde Elementary School District
The Education and Workforce Development Committee will address issues affecting the quality of education in the West Valley at all levels (K-12 and Higher Education). The committee will have a particular focus on the quality of our workforce, as well as creating the workforce needed for the future of the West Valley.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Chair: Candace Wiest, West Valley National Bank
This Committee consists of WESTMARC's elected officers, at-large members of the Board of Directors, and committee co-chairs.
HEALTHCARE
Meets at WESTMARC Bi-Monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs:Christine Clouse, Midwestern University; Sharon Grambow, Sun Health Life Care Communities
The Healthcare Committee will focus on all aspects of the healthcare industry; one of the most promising industries for the West Valley. The top two objectives of the committee are to address topics of interest to the community (such as healthcare reform) and asset promotion and development.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Meets at WESTMARC on the 1st Monday of the month from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. during session*
Co-Chairs: Michael Stull, Cox Communications; Shirley Gunther, City of Avondale
The purpose of the Public Affairs Committee is to 1) share information among members with public policy expertise, 2) discuss policy issues and their impacts, and 3) review requests for the organization's support . *(Day/date may change depending on Sine Die of Legislature)
TRANSPORTATION
Meets at WESTMARC Bi-Monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Co-Chairs: (to be announced)
The Transportation Committee will address all aspects of transportation in the West Valley, with a focus on keeping WESTMARC members informed of projects and initiatives and ensuring West Valley regional representation and advocacy in trasnportation matters.
WATER & ENERGY
Meets at WESTMARC Quarterly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Co-Chairs: Robin Stinnett, City of Avondale; Ron Fleming, Global Water
The Water and Energy Committee will provide opportunities for its members to understand current water and energy resource issues and will promote the relationship between business and water resouces and energy policy.pertaining to the West Valley.
