WESTMARC Committees
As a member of WESTMARC you are entitled to participate in any of our committees. WESTMARC's committees have monthly meetings or meetings scheduled as needed. The following are standing committees. Occasionally, other committees and taskforces are formed as issues arise. The purpose of WESTMARC's committees is for members to gain information, discuss specific issues, and make policy recommendations for WESTMARC's consideration.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Meets at WESTMARC on the 4th Thursday of the month from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs: Harry Paxton, City of Goodyear; Russ Ullinger, SRP
This Committee serves as an economic development facilitator, providing members with important information regarding growth, development, and construction in the West Valley.
EDUCATION
Meets at WESTMARC on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs:Herman Orcutt (Retired), The Orcutt/Winslow Partnership;Robin Berry, Palo Verde Elementary School District
This Committee discusses and recommends ways to promote quality education and life-long learning for all ages with sufficient funding to distinguish the West Valley as a center of educational excellence.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Chair: Art Othon, El Bravo Restaurants
This Committee consists of WESTMARC's elected officers, at-large members of the Board of Directors, and committee co-chairs.
HEALTHCARE
Meets at WESTMARC on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs:Christine Clouse, Midwestern University; Sharon Grambow, Roskamp Sunhealth
This Committee discusses and recommends ways to promote health and wellness, as well as sufficient healthcare infrastructure, throughout the West Valley.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Meets at WESTMARC or the League of Cities and Towns on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs: Michael Stull, Cox Communications; Shirley Gunther, City of Avondale
This Committee consists of business, education, and municipal intergovernmental liaisons that govern WESTMARC's public policy agenda and submit recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
TRANSPORTATION
Meets at WESTMARC on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Co-Chairs: Joe LaRue, Sun Health; David Moody, City of Peoria
This Committee brings together regional transportation leaders and stakeholders with the intent of developing recommendations on long-term transportation policies.
WATER & ENERGY
Meets at WESTMARC on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Co-Chairs: Robin Stinnett, City of Avondale; Ron Fleming, Global Water
This Committee discusses water and energy issues pertaining to the West Valley.
